Children may return to school in the coming academic year after nearly 1.5 year of digital learning at home. Schools and instructors are preparing a back-to-school learning plan as vaccines are delivered and educational institutions reopen their doors.
While youngsters are looking forward to returning to school and socialising with their peers, their learning patterns and styles may have changed dramatically in recent months.
Educators must assess whether the old one-size-fits-all approach to classroom learning is still applicable.
More crucially, the educational system as a whole may need to change in order to meet the learning needs of all pupils.
A mixed learning strategy, in my opinion, is the way to go! This will combine the best of the online and offline worlds, allowing students to embark on new, personalised learning journeys. Here are a few learning trends that will be noticed in future schools.
🌏Digitalization of classrooms🌏
Students and teachers went online during the lockout to keep learning going. We can anticipate teachers to continue to use digital technologies to alter their teaching even in a physical classroom as schools reopen.
Classroom learning may no longer be limited to teacher-led lectures. Instead, digitally empowered educators can design teaching techniques that encourage pupils to enjoy learning. Teachers, for example, can use explainer videos to introduce ideas while offering students with gamified tools to practise what they’ve learned.
🌏Active self-learners🌏
During the epidemic, kids took the first step toward becoming self-learners by learning from home. They took the wheel and experimented with interesting course styles such as videos, as well as content tailored to their own learning requirements. Students, I believe, will look forward to continuing this method and designing their own learning path when they return to school.
It’s vital to develop an environment that encourages self-directed learning in order to keep this student-centered approach alive. Teachers can assist students in learning independently by involving them in group discussions, exams, or projects that are related to the concepts they studied independently.
🌏Evolving student-teacher relationship🌏
The sudden closure of schools and shift to online education has not been an easy task. But, it’s ushered in a whole new way of how teaching and learning happens. Teachers have transitioned to being a mentor and a guide to students. Empowered by tech-enabled tools, teachers are going the extra mile to help students sail smoothly through their learning uninterrupted.
Students, on the other hand, have embraced the responsibility and initiative to design their own learning paths based on their size, learning style, and pace. I believe that today’s learning is more individualised than it was a few years ago. Students are exhibiting a strong interest in their studies and are actively participating in them.
